The United States Embassy marks the second anniversary of the violent dispersal of demonstrators in Khartoum on June 3, 2019

which resulted in the massacre of more than 100 unarmed civilians and hundreds injured.  We stand with the Sudanese people in calling on the civilian-led transitional government to hold accountable those responsible for the violence.  We encourage demonstrators to remain peaceful and the government to implement adequate security measures to ensure their safety.  The United States supports the Sudanese people in their pursuit of freedom, peace, and justice and is partnering closely with the government to create a democratic, free, and prosperous Sudan.
