ARREST OF SUDANESE CONGRESS PARTY (the *SCP*) LEADERS ______________________

The Sudan National Intelligence and Security Services *(the “NISS”)* hasn’t stopped the arbitrary arrest started this morning by arresting Suleiman Khalifa Dinari, deputy chairperson of the SCP at Khartoum State. In stead, on this Wednesday afternoon, 19/7/2017, NISS has arrested the political secretary of the Party Abu Bakr Yusuf and a number of the party leaders, including Mrs. Amani Malik, the Human Rights Acting Secretary; Mrs. Mawahib Magzoub, the political secretary of the party in the state of Khartoum and Mr. Ibrahim al-Sheikh, a member of the Central Council and the former Chairperson of the party; at Jabal Awlia border station when they were visiting the students of University of Bakht al-Ruda who have been prohibited to enter Khartoum Yeterday.

The arrested leaders visited the area of Sheikh el-Yaqout to provide some aids to the students of the University of Bakht al-Ruda, who prevented by NISS from entering Khartoum yesterday; after their declaration of solidarity with the students and stand with them in their legitimate rights. This arrest came as after an  announcement from SCPof opening of the party’s headquarter and premises in Khartoum to receive students at any time.

Nothing new in the attitude and practice of this regime of terrorism & oppression against its opponents. However, this statement is a call upon all political forces, civil society organizations and activists to unify for one time and forever to end this prolonged suffering. It is an invitation not only to form committees to monitor, follow up and solve the issue of detention *which is mainly to distract the party from the cause for which the detainees were held*; It is a call for direct and immediate escalation and peaceful resistance through its strongest weapons of solidarity, alignment and unity.

The continuation of deepening the crisis and the complexity of the situation confirms the dangerous role played by the regime to conspire against the people and aspirations; and through this statement *SCP*warns the regime of seriousness of directing military units to protect the regime corrupt racist institutions. The involvement of the Armed Forces in these tasks may be imposed by confrontation with citizens which is extremely dangerous to the social conditions already entrenched. Therefore, we emphasize that such policies are a comprehensive war declaration towards separation of a new part from the country; in addition to the inability of the regime to provide decent living and work and development; which confirms and requires what we are seeking and always call upon that it is high time for immediate departure of this regime.

Any day passes through us is a whitewash of corruption and banditry and dedication to impunity and the re-annexation of the deep state. This regime has barely awakened from its shock in terms of economic sanctions and its position from the Gulf crisis and its ignorance of security of citizens. *NEVERTHELESS* returned to the attitude of oppression. *HOWEVER*, all of us are sure that our people and their living forces, who seek change, will defend their gains and aspirations.

*Therefore*, the SCP calls upon all political, social & civil forces to be vigilant and to promote coordination and joint field action to avoid the opportunity for the regime to isolate the people and its legitimate right for justice, freedom, dignity and homeland.
