Subject: the barbaric targeting to Students from Darfur at Bakht alruda university of Sudan

? Referring to the above-mentioned subject in the last three months of April, May and June 2017 the regime in Khartoum had escalated its barbaric targeting to the students from Darfur studding at Bakht alruda University in flagrant violation to human and students rights. Sudan’s National Intelligence and Security Forces (NISS, the police and students from the ruling National Congress Party (NISS) had been constantly targeting and attacking students of Darfur because of their ethnic belonging. On 08/05/2017 elements of Khartoum’s Security apparatus and the police attached students from Darfur inside their residential areas on the campus of the university, the students which they fled in disarray to safety returned to the university after several days.

On 01/06/2017 The administration of the university without forming any verification committee or following the due course of the law arbitrary dismissed 14 students from Darfur in condition with the incident; not because of committing any crime, but, for their ethnic background. As a result fellow students from Darfur studding at the university formed a committee to meet the administration of the university, in order to inquire and know the reasons behind dismissing of their colleagues. However; the administration of the university, the dean of the students and the vice-chancellor refused to meet the students’ committee or turn back its dismissal decision. Accordingly, on 18th of July 2017 more than 1000 Darfurian students studding at the university decided to collectively resign from the university because of systematic and selective attacking and targeting, continuous harassment and threats from Khartoum’s security forces inside and outside of the university and in public places, besides unceasing summoning to the students by the regime’s security apparatus without any reasons.  Therefore; we appeal to all local, national and international human rights organizations and activists to put pressure on Khartoum to stop its flagrant and unceasing human rights violations, arbitrary arrests and racial targeting to the students of Darfur in all Sudanese universities
