Sudan People’s Liberation Army- North (SPLA-N) forces repulsed an attack by the National Congress Party (NCP) forces and Militias on Blue Nile

In response to an attack by NCP forces and Militias on the liberated areas in Bau county Blue Nile region on 26 June 2017, SPLA-N managed to stop the advancement of the attacking forces and caused them heavy casualties in manpower and equipments.
The attack is considered a violation of the cessation of hostilities which was previously announced by the regime. It is obvious that the NCP attempted to exploit the internal differences among the members of SPLM-N leadership; viewing them as an opportunity to gain control of some areas forming parts of SPLM/A-N strong hold. However, SPLA-N forces demonstrated that they would remain vigilant to stop any move by NCP militias; the true enemy. SPLM/A-N would like to reiterate its commitments to the cessation of hostilities with the exception of retaliation in self-defence.
SPLM/A-N leadership would like to convey Eid greetings to the Sudanese people and wishes them Peace and stability.
